Spa day for two in Macau: where, and how to book it.

Two massages in two separate rooms is not a couples spa day. The real thing is a couples suite: one room, two beds, the therapists side by side. These are the Macau hotel spas that actually have them, and how to book the treatment for two without overpaying.

How Klook vouchers work for two people
Some Macau spa vouchers on Klook are built for two. Sands Spa sells explicit for-two packages: deep tissue or traditional Chinese massage for two at about US$148 for 60 minutes, US$198 for 90, US$248 for 120, plus a for-two foot reflexology option. Altira Spa sells its 120-minute Sensory Revival package as 1 Pax (US$193) or 2 Pax (US$382), and couple bookings get a complimentary sea-view chamber with a jacuzzi bath, subject to availability. Bodhi Spa at The Londoner Macao lists a 60-minute deep tissue for two at US$389, in a private spa suite with its own steam bath and jacuzzi. Spa at Londoner Grand lists a 60-minute signature massage for two at US$260, and has five couple rooms with over-sized jacuzzi baths.
The other listings are mostly sold per person. At V Spa, Le SPA'tique and Zensa Spa you set the quantity to 2 on the same single-person package: V Spa's 60-minute massage (four styles to choose from, from about US$53) and 60-minute foot massage work exactly this way. Two vouchers and one phone call is the whole trick at these spas. One Le SPA'tique package has been seen with a "For 2 persons" option, so read the package options on the listing before you buy.
One caution: the voucher covers the treatment, not always the room. Some spas add a surcharge for the VIP or couples suite, and it is never on the Klook page. Ask before you buy if the price is tight: how the voucher route works.
What to ask when you book
Five questions, in this order. They take one phone call and they are the difference between a couples spa day and two parallel appointments.
- "Can we have the couples suite?" Name it directly. If you only book "two massages at 3pm", most spas will put you in two standard rooms.
- "Does our voucher cover the suite, or is there a supplement?" Vouchers cover treatments. VIP and couples suites sometimes carry a surcharge, and it is never on the Klook page.
- "Can the treatments start at the same time?" Two therapists, one start time. Otherwise one of you waits in a robe while the other finishes.
- "What is the latest we can arrive for the facilities?" Hotel spas include the vitality pools, steam, sauna and lounge with the treatment. Plan to arrive 20 to 30 minutes early.
- "Any blackout dates on the voucher?" Vouchers can exclude peak dates and holidays, and they are harder to change at short notice than a direct booking. Read the terms before paying.
The Ritz-Carlton has only three couples' suites, and weekend slots go first. Where the voucher is per person, buy two, then reserve immediately; do not buy first and browse dates for a week. What treatments cost.
Occasions: anniversaries and proposals
Hotel spas are used to the occasion booking. Tell them when you reserve and they will usually set the suite with candles or flowers at no extra charge. For anything elaborate (private dining after, suite decoration), book direct with the hotel rather than through a voucher: vouchers are fixed packages and the spa cannot customise them.

How far ahead should a couple book?
Days ahead, more for weekends and holidays. Couples suites are scarce: three at the Ritz-Carlton. Vouchers require advance reservation anyway, so buy, then call straight away.
Can we use the pool and sauna before our treatment?
At hotel spas, yes: heat and water facilities, vitality pools, steam, sauna and the relaxation lounge are included with your treatment. Arrive 20 to 30 minutes early. Independent shops do not have these facilities.
